What did the world’s first lipstick tube look like? A bullet, literally—and it was refillable! The Associated Press has the exclusive on Guerlain’s “warehouse of wonders” that preserves the history of cosmetics. Guerlain is an LVMH brand.

Founded in 1828, Guerlain has thousands of historical beauty gems, with 400 items in its newly curated archive. Guerlain’s “warehouse of wonders” along the Seine River in Paris houses the first modern perfume, the original Nivea jar, and more treasures for beauty fans. Unfortunately, the private archive isn’t open to the public.

The slideshow at AP News features photos of several items and descriptions. AP met with Guerlain heritage director Ann Caroline Prazan for a private tour. Also, watch the video “Inside Guerlian’s Archive” on YouTube

In other news, Guerlain is celebrating the 170th anniversary of its iconic Bee Bottle in 2023—with a special edition created in collaboration with master glassmaker Aristide Najean.

The stunning reinterpretation of the Bee Bottle, Bouquet de la Mariée Murano Edition, is shown above and in the Instagram post below.
